Socio-Economic and Political Consequences of the International Trade in Illicit Drugs

The project focused on the socio-economic and political impacts of illicit narcotic drug production, trade and use, mainly in developing countries. Studies were carried out in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bolivia, Colombia, Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Peru, Thailand and the United States (Kentucky and Tennessee).
This project was co-sponsored by United Nations University (UNU). Assistance from field offices of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme (UNDCP) was also valuable.
