Former Collaborating Researcher
Chweya Ludeki collaborated with UNRISD for the project Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes 2007-2010. For this project, he wrote a paper on Welfare Regime, Social Protection and Poverty Reduction in Kenya. At the time of his collaboration with UNRISD, Ludeki was a senior lecturer in Political Science Department at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
Ludeki has a Ph.D. from Queen's University at Kingston, Canada. His publications on development issues include: ‘The State and Rural Development: Transcending the Centralization-Decentralization Debate’ in Regional Development Dialogue 25(1) 2004; a paper on 'Democratization in Kenya: Towards A Power Balance among Institutions of 'Governance' presented at the Fourth Workshop on Democracy in East Africa, Arusha, Tanzania 2001; and “Regional Development in Kenya: An Assessment of Performance”, in Regional Development Policy in Africa: Problems and Prospects Toward the 21st Century,Proceedings of the Africa Regional Development Policy Forum, Nairobi, Kenya, pages 153-164.
