Rajaskhar Durgam

Former Collaborating Researcher

Rajasekhar Durgam is a long-standing collaborator or UNRISD. He collaborated with UNRISD on the project Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes (2007-2010) for which he wrote a paper on Social Protection in India: Policies, Experiences, Challenges in collaboration with Gita Sen as part of the country-level research team. At the time of this collaboration, Rajasekhar was a professor and head of the Centre for Decentralisation and Development at the Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bangalore. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Rajasekhar has several publications on social protection, including: Design and Management of Social Security Benefits for Unorganised Workers in Karnataka, GTZ, 2006; and Showing the Way Forward: India's Redistribution Experience in Extending Social Protection to All, ILO, 2006.
