Our Communications Network

UNRISD strives to make its research and publications widely available and all in-house publications are available free-of-charge on our website. We also publish and co-publish books with a variety of publishing houses around the world. We have a growing network of depository libraries in the South to which we deliver hard-copy publications, where appropriate. We also produce a regular CD-Rom of all of our publications and deliver this to our library network to ensure that access to our work reaches across the bandwidth barrier.

Publishing Partners

Recent publishing partnerships include Palgrave, Routledge and Wiley-Blackwell.

Digital Communications Partnerships

We also seek to share our publications through online publications repositories and continually seek to improve the dissemination of our publications through new social and digital media. We are a partner with the document-sharing site Scribd and several online knowledge portals, including the Global Ethics Forum, ISN, OpenDemocracy, the South-South Learning Gateway. Engagement with these networks allows UNRISD to share experiences across regions and countries, participate in broad platforms for South-South collaborations and expand its networks even further.

Network of Depository Libraries

UNRISD has always emphasized dissemination of its publications to libraries and similar public-access institutions in the North and South. In 1999 the Institute initiated a system of depository libraries and documentation centres, which receive all in-house publications free of charge, and there are currently nearly 250 participating institutions (31 per cent in Africa; 20 per cent in Europe; 17 per cent in Latin America/Caribbean; 16 per cent in Asia; 12 per cent in the Middle East/Central Asia; 2 per cent in Oceania; 1 per cent in North America).

If you are a librarian and would like UNRISD to consider adding your institution to its list of depository libraries, please send an email to info@unrisd.org.
