Studies in the Measurement of Levels of Living and Welfare
This report comprises three papers, the first discussing concepts and principles related to measuring social variables in real terms, and the second two seeking to transform those concepts and principles into operational tools. An innovative distinction in this work is the introduction of a “level of welfare index” which looks at social indicators such as nutritional, health and educational status. The challenge was how to satisfactorily quantify social status into statistically relevant indicators.
