UNRISD 46th Board Session taking place in Geneva, March 27 and 28

UNRISD is holding its annual Board Meeting on March 27 and 28, 2008 to discuss the research achievements of the past year and identify the pertinent global issues to address for the research period of 2009-2014. The Board Meeting is an annual event that reviews and approves expenditure, discusses new funding opportunities, and allocates the budgets for the individual research programmes.
During the first day, the UNRISD team will discuss programmes and projects in the areas of Social Policy; Poverty Reduction & Policy Regimes; Markets, Business & Regulation; Identities, Conflict & Cohesion; Civil Society & Social Movements, and Gender & Development in an informal session.
The second day encompasses the formal session where the board will review and discuss the work carried out under UNRISD’s six research programmes, the progress of the publications and dissemination unit over the last year, an administrative and financial report, as well as discussions over the future direction of UNRISD research.
UNRISD’s Board members currently come from Argentina, Ethiopia, France, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America. This year’s meeting is chaired by Lourdes Arizpe, Professor at the National University of Mexico. Representatives from the ILO, UNESCO, UNHCHR, UNICEF AND UNU will also join the session.
