Former Intern (Research)
Giulia joined UNRISD as a Research Intern in December 2015. She assists Research Coordinator Ilcheong Yi and research Analyst Kelly Stetter with the projects “New Directions in Social Policy: Alternatives from and for the Global South,” “Towards Universal Social Security in Emerging Economies,” and “When Security Meets Social Security.”
Giulia received a Master's degree in Development Economics from SOAS, University of London, in 2015. During her time in her master’s programme, she has conducted research on issues related to coordination and cooperation between heterogeneous actors in dynamic contexts, such as the collective management of communal land under migrations,
growing population pressures and chaotic urbanisation.
Her master dissertation examined the development and cooperation policies (both in terms of aid and of trade agreements) promoted by the EU in the Mediterranean Neighbour Countries in the last 40 years, with a particular focus on and assessment of the post Arab Spring developments.
