Fiona worked at UNRISD as an intern in early 2010 supporting Ilcheong Yi on the Social Policy and Development Programme.
Fiona holds an MSc in International Social Policy (with distinction) from the University of Bath (2008-2009). Fiona's Masters dissertation was a comparative analysis of the non contributory social pension schemes found in 16 developing countries which explored the relationship between the level of generosity of the schemes and the political regime implementing them.
Fiona previously obtained a First Class BA (Hons) in Social Work from the University of Hertfordshire. She spent 10 years working as a social worker within the UK supporting children, older people and adults with disabilities and mental health problems. She has also undertaken some research for HelpAge International, based in London, in relation to older people's wellbeing in developing countries.
Her research interests included social policy within development contexts including education, health and social security policy and comparative research methods.
