Former Intern (Research)
Emilia joined UNRISD in June 2014 to assist with the ongoing projects "Towards Universal Social Security in Emerging Economies", and "New Directions in Social Policy: Alternatives from and for the Global South". She is also helping with launching the project: "When Social Security Meets Security: Social Policy in Post Conflict Settings".
Emilia is due to complete Double MSc in Public Policy and Human Development at the United Nations University, where she is being trained by the International Labour Organization. She specialises in Social Protection Policy Design and Financing, and has a BA in Economics and Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
Emilia has been selected by the United Nation University to lead the research for Overseas Development Assistance Campaign "Inside the Black Box" that was launched in early April 2014. Her work experience also includes tutoring in International Economics, Economics of Integration and Micro/Macroeconomics at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Previously, she researched on microfinance and labour relations.
Emilia's research interests include social policy design and financing, poverty alleviation, economic insecurity and precarious labour.
