Youssoufou Congo

Former Visiting Fellow

Youssoufou Congo was Visiting Research Fellow at UNRISD in 2010. During this period, Youssoufou conducted research in the field of social development, prepared a paper on “In-depth analysis of the performance of DR Congo-based microfinance institutions” and worked on the manuscript of his book entitled “Emergence et développement de la microfinance: débats, controverses et théories explicatives ” to be published by the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).
Youssoufou Congo has both a PhD in Economics from the University of Liege (Belgium) and a PhD in Agricultural Economics from the CIRES/National University of Cote d’Ivoire. He has been serving as international microfinance expert and visiting professor at the Protestant University of Congo since October 2003. Before that, he managed a microfinance research center in Luxembourg from 1996 to 1998. He also worked 5 years (from 1991 to 1995) in microfinance, academic training/research and management positions in Burkina Faso and Belgium.
