Asma Jahangir

Former Board Member

Asma Jahangir is a prominent lawyer and human rights activist. As well as being Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, she also heads her own law firm and runs the largest free legal-aid centre. Ms Jahangir is a founding member of Women's Actions Forum. She has led campaigns for the restoration of democracy, against persecution of religious and ethnic minorities, and for women and children's rights. Ms Jahangir is also the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Freedom, Religion and Belief.
