Roman Twerenbold

Former Intern (Research)

Roman joined UNRISD as a Research Intern in January 2017. He assists Senior Research Coordinator Ilcheong Yi and Research Analyst Kelly Stetter with the projects “Towards Universal Social Security in Emerging Economies,” “New Directions in Social Policy: Alternatives from and for the Global South” and the organisation of the latter’s upcoming workshop in May 2017.

Prior to joining UNRISD, Roman obtained his Master's degree in ‘Development and International Relations’ at Aalborg University (DK) in June 2016. During his Master’s programme, he focused his research on project sustainability and methods for aid effectiveness, most notably as a fellow in an English Learning Centre in rural Cambodia.

His Master Thesis looked at the relationship between local participation and project sustainability with regards to community-driven infrastructure projects in the Mekong Delta using a qualitative-comparative analysis.

Currently, he also works as a Programme Officer for an NGO active in the Himalayas, with a focus on sustainable agriculture development, women empowerment and community resilience.
