Regina Hammond

Former Intern (Research)

Regina joined UNRISD in June 2014 to assist Peter Utting with the project on “Social and Solidarity Economy”. She holds a B.A. with honours in Economics and French from Lawrence University, Wisconsin, USA. As an undergraduate student, she interned at MicroInsurance Centre (Appleton,Wisconsin) where she was on the research team for the Landscape of Microinsurance in Africa 2012 study, among other duties.

She is currently pursuing an M. A. in Development Studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland with a concentration in Human and Social Development. In IHEID, she is a Programme Officer at the Collaborate for Social Impact (C4SI) programme organized by Just Innovate, a student-run non-profit educational initiative that inspires and facilitates social innovations within student communities.

Her research interests include financial inclusion, social protection, inequality, poverty reduction, as well as issues of women and youth in the labour market with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa.
