Hyo-kyung Kwak

Former Research Assistant

Hyo-kyung Kwak joined UNRISD in February 2008 as a research fellow. During the previous year, she had participated in a Visiting Research / Study Fellowship Programme of Oxford University.
Hyo-kyung holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Graduate School of Governance, Sungkyunkwan University in Korea. Under the title “A study on WHO and the UN Millennium Development Goals: From the Global Governance Approach”, her Master’s thesis examined global governance mechanisms in decision-making of global social policy, and investigated interaction between policy actors from different levels – global, regional, and national – concerning the WHO’s work with respect to the Millennium Development Goal 4 (MDG-4).

She assisted in the research project ‘A Study on the Civil Service Pension Scheme in Korea’ in 2005, sponsored by Government Employees Pension Service (GEPS) in Korea, and co-authored ‘Reform of the Civil Service Pension Scheme and Policy Issues’ (the Korean Association for Policy Studies, Vol. 15, No. 4.) with Huck-ju Kwon in 2007.
