Anna joined UNRISD as a Visiting Fellow in October 2015. She is also a Research Officer at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) in the UK. Her work for the Governance and Social Development Research Centre (GSDRC) involves carrying out on-demand policy relevant research on a diverse range of governance, social development, conflict, and humanitarian issues for DFID, the European Commission, and the Australian Government.
Anna completed her PhD at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 2013. Her thesis examined the decision-making processes behind Norwegian conflict mediation efforts in the Philippines, South Sudan, and Sri Lanka. She also holds an MSc in Asian Politics (2007 with distinction) from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, and a BA in Middle Eastern Studies with Arabic from the University of Exeter. She speaks English, German, Swedish, French and Arabic.
While at UNRISD, Anna will be involved in research projects relating to the gender implications of violent urban contexts and social protection in post-conflict settings.
