Former Collaborating Researcher
Michael Marchant was a winner in the First Edition of the UNRISD Young Scholars Think Piece Series, held in the first half of 2014. The theme was Extractive Industries and Social Development. The title of Michael's contribution is "Corporate social responsibility and oil in the Niger Delta: Solution or part of the problem?".
At the time that Michael submitted his think piece to UNRISD, he was studying toward an M.Sc. Africa and International Development at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this, he was awarded a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with distinction from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
