Sumira joined UNRISD as an intern to work with Peter Utting in the Markets, Business and Regulation Programme.
She holds a Doctorate degree in International Economic and Business Law from Kyushu University with a thesis examining the impact of Employment and Industrial Relations Chapter of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on three industrial sectors in Africa, Latin America and Asia.
Before coming to UNRISD, she worked for law firms in Japan and Thailand, and was an intern at the International Labour Organization, Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
As a Goldman scholar, she completed a JSD program at Yale Law School. At Yale, she also worked as a research assistant on a project for the development of private system of governance for transnational business.
