Former Collaborating Researcher
Ben Naanen collaborated with UNRISD for the project Identity, Power and the Rights of Indigenous Peoples 2006-2008. For the project, he undertook a country case study on Nigeria: the State, International Institutions and Indigenous Peoples and participated in the Consultation Meetings of the project in 2008.
At the time of his collaboration with UNRISD, Ben was Professor at the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He has worked with the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People, and was the author of “Oil-Producing Minorities and the Restructuring of Nigerian Federalism: the Case of the Ogoni People”, Journal of Commonwealth and Comparative Politics 33, 1, 1995.
