Gita Sen

Former Board Member

Gita Sen has been collaborating with UNRISD for many years. She gave an UNRISD Seminar on Reinventing Social Contracts: Feminists, Rights and Power in February 2015. At the time, she was Professor Emeritus,at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, India; Adjunct Professor of Global Health and Population, Harvard School of Public Health; and founder and member of DAWN (Development Alternatives for Women for a New Era).
Gita Sen was also Board Member from 1997 to 2003. Her other collaborations with UNRISD included a chapter in Reclaiming Development Agendas: Knowledge, Power and International Policy Making in 2006; a paper for the UNRISD flagship report in 2005, Gender Equality: Striving for Justice in an Unequal World; and participation in the UNRISD conference on Social Knowledge and International Policy Making: Exploring the Linkages in 2004; and the UNRISD meeting on “The Need to Rethink Development Economics in 2001.
