The Senegal country study, directed by Momar-Coumba Diop, was carried out between January 2000 and June 2002. It consisted of the following components:
A preparatory phase
marked by preparation by Olivier Sagna of an overview paper on information and communications technologies in the history of Senegal, followed by a research planning seminar in Dakar.

Two small grants for students
writing their masters’ degree theses on subjects related to information technology in Senegal. These students worked with members of the academic team.
A monthly newspaper supplement
, containing four pages of analysis, news and views on information technologies in Senegal. This supplement appeared between and in the well-known Dakar daily Sud Quotidien
. All ten issues are collected and displayed on the Web site of the Senegalese NGO Osiris
A public conference, held in Dakar in June 2001, at which preliminary project findings were presented and discussed.
