Environmental Degradation and Social Integration
This paper examines the interrelationships between social integration and the environment, exploring the impact that different patterns of social relations have on the state of the environment, and the influence of the environment—and especially environmental degradation—on social structures and institutions. It discusses the strengths and weaknesses, in different social and environmental contexts, of the three main policy approaches to environmental degradation: conservationism, “primary environmental care” and environmental economics.
