Lauri Heimo

Former Intern (Research)

Lauri joined UNRISD in February 2015 to work on the Social Policy and Development project and to assist and contribute to the upcoming institutional report Policy Innovations for Transformative Social Change.

Lauri holds a BA and an MA from the University of Tampere, Finland, where he majored in social policy, with minors in international relations, Latin American studies and sociology. In his studies he focused on global social policy and development policies in the Global South, and wrote his MA dissertation on conditional cash transfers (CCT’s) with the study consisting of a theoretical analysis of the idea of CCT’s as well as a concrete case study of the conditional cash transfer programme of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

He has working experience as a consultant in Mozambique, volunteer assistant coordinator in a native community in Brazil, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland in addition to posts in teaching, translating and coordinating. Previously he has interned at the international affairs unit of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, Finland, as well as the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean.
