Former Intern (Research)
Roosa joined UNRISD in January 2015, working with the Social Policy for Inclusive and Sustainable Development team on projects on new directions of social policy in the global South, social policy in post-conflict contexts and social policy in emerging economies.
She studied her BA Social Policy degree in the University of Turku, with a minor in development studies. For her Bachelor’s dissertation she researched the role of foreign NGOs as a welfare providers for orphans and vulnerable children in South-West Cameroon. She completed her MA International Social Policy studies in the University of Nottingham.
She has previously worked as a research assistant in the Finnish Social Security Institution (KELA). Prior to joining UNRISD in January 2015, Roosa interned in the Working Conditions department at the International Labour Organization, working on the topic of rest periods with a focus on developing countries.
Roosa is particularly interested in social policy development and welfare mix in Sub-Saharan Africa.
