Akiko Hiratsuka (Sasaki)
Visiting Fellow
Akiko Hiratsuka (Sasaki) joined UNRISD as a Research Visiting Fellow in November 2019. She has been working as a Research Management Officer at Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO) since 2013.
Her research interests include sustainable city planning and governance especially in Asia, just transition and Social and Solidarity Economy at local level.
At IDE-JETRO, she was in charge of several research management activities such as coordination of international research projects, institutional networking, and media relations. Before joining IDE-JETRO, she has worked as a rural development consultant for municipalities in Japan for 4 years until 2013. She holds B.A. in Public Administration (International Christian University, Japan) and M.Sc in Spatial Planning (Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden).
