Andrew Maskrey

Andrew Maskrey has been involved in research, policy and practice at the cutting-edge of disaster risk management. His involvement began in 1982, when he worked on the first assessment of earthquake risk in the housing sector in Lima, Peru, for the National Institute of Urban Development (INADUR). In Peru, he also formed the Centre for Disaster Prevention and Studies (PREDES), an organisation which pioneered community based approaches to disaster risk management. Subsequently, he was Director of the Intermediate Technology Development Group (ITDG) in Lima and Co-Director of Associated Housing Advisory Services (AHAS) in London.
