Luis Hernán Vargas Faulbaum

Former Intern (Research)

Luis Hernán joined UNRISD in September 2013 to assist Mr. Ilcheong Yi in the Social Policy for Inclusive Development area. Specifically, he is working on three projects: Towards Universal Social Security in Emerging Economies, New Directions in Social Policy, and Making International Development Cooperation Effective.

Luis Hernán recently finished an MA in Public Policy from King’s College London. His master dissertation analysed the trajectory of Bolsa Família programme (Brazil).

Previously, he obtained a bachelor degree in Sociology from the University of Chile. After obtained his degree, he joined as an intern at the Statistics Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in Santiago. From 2010 to 2012, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Social Development Division of ECLAC. He focused on the analysis of Social Protection systems, especially Conditional Cash Transfers programme. Also, he collaborated in several official publications, seminars and co-authored some reports.
