Christopher Pierson

Chris Pierson is Professor of Politics at the University of Nottingham in the UK. He has held visiting research positions at the Australian National University and at the University of California, Santa Barbara. His most recent works include Hard Choices: Social Democracy in the 21st Century (2001), Cambridge: Polity Press; Beyond the Welfare State? The New Political Economy of Welfare (2nd edition, 1998) Cambridge: Polity Press and Pennsylvania: Penn State University Press; and The Modern State (1996) London: Routledge. He is currently working on a history of the idea of private property.
