Rajaskhar Durgam

Former Collaborating Researcher

Rajasekhar Durgam collaborated with UNRISD for the project Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes 2007-2010. For the project, he wrote a paper on Welfare Regime, Social Protection and Poverty Reduction in India. At the time of his collaboration, Durgam was a professor and head of the Centre for Decentralisation and Development at the Institute for Social and Economic Change in Bangalore. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
Durgam has several publications on social protection, including: Design and Management of Social Security Benefits for Unorganised Workers in Karnataka, GTZ, 2006; and Showing the Way Forward: India's Redistribution Experience in Extending Social Protection to All, ILO, 2006.
