Former Collaborating Researcher
Jean Oi collaborated with UNRISD for the project Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes, 2007-2010. For the project, Oi wrote a draft paper on China’s development experience, social policy and poverty reduction strategies. At the time of her collaboration, she was Professor of Chinese Politics at the Department of Political Science, Stanford University, USA.
She has worked extensively in the field of political economy and the process of reform in transitional systems. Her publications include Rural China Takes Off: Institutional Foundations of Economic Reform (University of California Press) and State and Peasant in Contemporary China: The Political Economy of Village Government (Stanford University Press).
