Matt joined UNRISD in January 2008. He is currently working with Yusuf Bangura and Tom Lavers on the Poverty Reduction and Policy Regimes programme. Matt is investigating the relationship between structural transformation, poverty reduction and policy regimes.
Matt holds an MSc in Political Economy of Development from SOAS and a BA in Economics from Nottingham. Matt's MSc dissertation examined the income divergence trends for Indian states and the role of increasingly liberalised infrastructure provision by the state. A draft version is available at:

Prior to joining UNRISD, Matt worked for RESULTS, an advocacy charity specialising in TB/HIV/microfinance, and at Warwick University where he was an author of the 2006 National Evaluation of Local Strategic Partnerships for the UK government. The report can be viewed at:
