Marina Cruz De Andrade

Former Intern (Research)

Marina joined UNRISD as a Research Intern in February 2016. She works in the Social Policy for Development (SPD) Programme and assists Research Coordinator Katja Hujo and Research Analyst Harald Braumann with the Institute’s forthcoming Flagship Report on “Policy Innovations for Transformative Social Change”.

She was an exchange student in Australia and France, and her BA in International Relations was completed in Brazil. She holds a double-degree MSc in Public Policy and Human Development, with a specialization in Social Protection Policy Design and Financing, offered jointly by Maastricht University and the United Nations University-Merit (UNU-Merit).

Her master thesis assessed the livelihood conditions of former beneficiaries of Bolsa Familia, and proposed recommendations for the implementation of a Social Protection Floor in Brazil. She is interested in the topic of wealth redistribution and social protection policies to end poverty and inequality in the developing world. Marina has internship experiences in consultancy and in the public sector in Brazil.
