Ito Peng
Former Collaborating Researcher
Ito Peng is Professor at Department of Sociology, and School of Public Policy and Governance, at University of Toronto. She has written numerous articles and chapters on comparative welfare states and gender and social policy in East Asia. Her current research examines the impacts of post-industrial changes on welfare states in Japan, Korea, China (Taiwan Province), Italy and Spain.
Within the UNRISD project Social Policy in Late Industrializers: Transforming the Welfare State in East Asia, Ito Peng explores the politics of welfare developmentalism by examining the evolution of the Japanese welfare state, paying particular attention to gender and family issues.
